Transportation Planning, Engineering Studies and Reports

A&Z's experienced and seasoned engineers allow for the preparation of professional and effective reports, transportation planning, and engineering feasibility studies. These studies are often a precursor for design, implementation, and ultimately the success of your project. Our engineers and planners are experienced with the evaluation, assessment, and design of all transportation facilities such as; expansion of local streets, new roadway alignments, bike lanes, and trails. We work with our clients on defining the goals and objectives of their visions. We identify existing problems, generate and evaluate alternatives, introduce them, and work "hand-in-hand" to find a solution and develop a plan. For an intersection requiring improvements due to safety, capacity, design geometrics, or offset alignment, our engineers would study the project using multiple disciplined areas in our approach, including important environmental concerns and right-of-way impacts. Our engineers will focus on alternative ideas and innovative and solutions.

A&Z looks into promoting sustainability through integrated transportation policies utilizing different transportation alternatives, such as, bicycle lanes, trails, and green infrastructure in our transportation planning. Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) is a major component to our studies and reports. CSS seeks to balance the need for moving the public effectively and safely while maintaining other objectives such as historic preservation, environmental sustainability, and the creation of vital public spaces.

In recent years, our engineers and planners were introduced to a new movement towards "Complete" transportation corridors. Utilizing the "Complete Street" approach not only considers vehicular movement alone, but other transportation alternatives are equally thought of during the planning phases. The Complete Street concept entails many of the CSS principles as well as pedestrian, bicycle and other modes to improve transportation in our communities
