Kendallville Drake Road Improvements

A&Z Engineering is intimately familiar with the Drake Road Improvements project. We have been working and coordinating closely with City of Kendallville officials since 2015 in assisting and preparing engineering assessment study, conceptual design layout, project cost estimate as well as designing the Drake Road/East Noble Middle School Pedestrian Access project. This project includes preliminary engineering and right-of-way engineering for Drake Road between Main Street to Weston Avenue (west junction). The project improvements include the reconstruction of an existing two-lane roadway pavement with curb and gutter and pedestrian sidewalks on both sides. A&Z completed a Traffic Impact Study (TIS) for the new Middle School to determine the school accesses and intersection safety. We also completed a trail connectivity study to determine viable accessible pedestrian and bicycle routes and associated construction costs for students to walk or ride to the new Middle School location. We completed an Engineering Assessment Study for Drake Road to determine the scope of the project, potential impacts to the environment and properties along the corridor, and the project costs. Assisted in applying for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) funds. The costs included construction, utility relocation, right-of-way and engineering design.
