About the Role
In this position, you will perform and oversee boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, and right-of-way support for transportation, utility, and site development projects. You will utilize modern survey equipment, CAD software, and data collection tools to produce detailed maps, reports, and legal documentation.
Responsibilities include researching historical maps, land records, and title information to verify boundary lines and resolve discrepancies. You will prepare two-dimensional maps and three-dimensional renderings of property features such as boundary lines, utilities, structures, and topography. Collaboration with engineers, designers, architects, and construction personnel is a key part of this role.
This position also includes leadership responsibilities such as supervising survey field crews, reviewing timesheets, managing training and certifications, maintaining survey equipment, and performing quality control prior to submittal. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required, with per diem provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys
- Prepare survey plats, maps, reports, and legal descriptions
- Research land records, historical surveys, and title information
- Utilize CAD and survey software to process and present data
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams
- Supervise survey personnel and field operations
- Manage survey equipment, supplies, and inventory
- Ensure quality control and compliance with legal standards
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Surveyor (PS) in the State of Indiana
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering
- 5+ years of professional surveying experience
- Strong understanding of boundary law and mapping principles
- Experience with computer-aided drafting programs
- Ability to work outdoors and manage field activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble GPS
- Construction layout and right-of-way experience
- Safety certifications (OSHA 10/30/40-Hour HAZWOPER)
