This segment of the Maplecrest Road corridor links the segment from Lake Avenue to East State Boulevard with the growing areas north of Stellhorn Road. This phase continues the complete street concept and design of Phase I, providing added travel capacity and improved level of service all the way from the Maplecrest Road Extension from New Haven, north to Interstate 469.
Maplecrest Road Phase II improvements include reconstruction of existing pavement and adding travel lanes with center auxiliary turn lanes, pedestrian facilities on both sides of the roadway, and existing traffic signal modifications at three intersections. Green infrastructures for stormwater management, landscaping amenities and decorative street lights are also included. The design implemented a variety of context sensitive solutions to accomplish the complete street vision while allowing thorough consideration to the existing neighborhoods and the local business environment. The project also includes major storm sewer construction and replacement of a large culvert pipe with a concrete box culvert, water main relocations, and adjustments.
