Below are a variety of projects that A&Z Engineering is performing construction inspection on, or will soon be doing construction inspection on.  You will also find links to the projects status pages here as well.

Projects Under Inspection

St Joe   St. Joe Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN
This project involves; widening St Joe Center from 2-lanes to 4-lanes of new concrete pavement; installation of new storm sewers; new street lighting; sidewalks; curb and gutter; and a new traffic signal.

IPFW   IPFW University Pedestrian Bridge Over St. Joe River, Fort Wayne
Beginning in June 2008, the second IPFW bridge will span St. Joe River.  This project will serve to connect the east and west sides of St. Joe River for to the future hotel, parks, and retail area.

Upcoming Inspection Projects

Waterloo   Waterloo Historic Depot, Waterloo, IN
Slated to begin in 2008, the historic Waterloo Depot will under go a complete restoration.  This project will serve to provide people traveling on Amtrak with an enclosed shelter, and to promote growth around downtown Waterloo.

St Joe   Bridge 60 Replacement, DeKalb County, IN
Scheduled to begin early spring of 2008, this project will replace the bridge the is slowly deteriorating while seeing an increasing amount of truck traffic. The new bridge will consist of two 12-foot lanes, and two 6-foot concrete paved shoulders.  This project will also lead the way for the improvement project scheduled to begin in the summer of 2008, which will improve the substandard intersection of CR 59 and SR 8.

Completed Inspection Projects

Bridge 103   Bridge 103 Replacement, DeKalb County, IN

This project consisted of replacing the existing bridge with: two 12-foot lanes and two 6-foot shoulders; and new guard rail.
This project involved part-time inspection duties of: 

  • Construction administration-perform the necessary monitoring and paper work
  • Construction monitoring and inspection
  • Weekly and monthly reporting
  • On-site problem solving and material testing
  • Final Records and As-Built Record Drawing plan submittals
  • Coordination between the client and the contractors

Project Cost: $0.40 million

SR 930   Allen County War Memorial Coliseum - Coliseum Bld. SR 930 New Entrance

A&Z's first construction inspection project was, that of S.R. 930 entrance project for the Allen Country War Memorial Coliseum.  The project consisted of widening and adding travel lanes, storm sewer, new traffic signal, and new roadway alignment.  A&Z inspection responsibilities included:

  • Construction administration-perform the necessary monitoring and paper work
  • Daily construction monitoring and inspection
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting
  • On-site problem solving and material testing
  • Final Records and As-Built Record Drawing plan submittals
  • Coordination between the client and the contractors

This project was completed on September 21st, 2007

Project Cost: $2.2 million

Key Inspection Staff:  Mark Voss, Chris Franz & Jennifer Sharkey

Watermain Installation   Waterloo Water main Relocation, Waterloo, IN

This project involved the relocation of 2 fire hydrants, reconnecting 6 residences and 200 linear feet of water main.  Responsibilities of the inspector were:

  • Daily construction monitoring and inspection
  • On-site problem solving and material testing
  • Final Records and As-Built Record Drawing plan submittals

ADA Ramps   Allen County ADA Inspection

A&Z Engineering assisted Allen County during the summer of 2005 by taking a part in a survey of several subdivisions to check for compliance of sidewalks.  The responsibilities for the inspector on this job included:

  • Checking cross slopes of sidewalk at driveways and at road intersections
  • Documentation of non-compliance in subdivions by way of photography and location
